How did you hear about AFS?
Offered through NuStep’s wellness program to employees.

What/Who inspired you to take the first step toward getting in shape?
Nothing was working for me. I was missing the nutrition piece. I was the heaviest I had ever been. I was creeping up to my pregnancy weight – ouch!

What initially intrigued you about our program/why did you sign up?
You get the best of both worlds. The class environment and the attention of a personal trainer. The workouts keep you challenged. I like that a trainer was specifically assigned to me to hold me accountable for my results or lack thereof.

How did you achieve the success you’ve seen thus far?
I get asked this a lot “what is the secret to AFS?” For me it is the nutrition accountability. You can workout all the time but if you don’t portion control and you eat more calories than you need, the weight never comes off. Food logging has been so successful for me. It makes you more aware and keeps you on track. I tend to blow it every now and then, but a great trainer like Jen helps motivate me to get back on track. Jen is very detailed when reviewing my food log. She offers great suggestions when it comes to food options and how I can stay on track and what my focus should be each week. And most importantly, she knows how to provide that “tough love” when I really need it!!! She keeps me challenged and is truly dedicated to my personal success. I LOVE HER!!! I also would not have achieved the success so far if it were not for Diana Kohne and Sabrina Kirkland. Their support during this journey has proven to be invaluable.

What changes have you noticed in your life since starting with AFS?
I have lost over 20 lbs., nearly 20 inches, and 10% body fat all within less than one year. I am down three sizes. I have more energy, improved self-confidence, healthier eating, and overall I just feel great about myself!

Advice you can offer others looking to make changes you’ve made?
It’s the best thing I did for myself and continue to do for myself. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Lean on your trainer – they will help you get through anything! It also helps if you can workout and food log with coworkers or friends.
