I wanted to take a moment to provide everyone with an update on our facility remodel plans.
As many of you know from my email in February, we have been planning a significant remodel of the facility to better align with how our members use AFS today. Over the last several years, we've seen a growing demand for strength training, and the primary goal of this project is to create more space and add more equipment to better support that experience.
At the same time, we recognize that circuit training through Fitness Solutions and aerobic exercise remain important parts of many members' health and fitness journeys. Our challenge has been designing a remodel that balances all of these needs.
With those priorities in mind, we have been working toward a plan that:
When I shared this project in February, my goal was to begin construction in late spring. Unfortunately, that timeline proved to be overly ambitious.
One of my greatest strengths, and one of my greatest weaknesses, is setting aggressive timelines.
Sometimes that works well. Other times, reality reminds me that certain things simply take longer than expected. This project has been one of those cases.
Between township approvals, permitting, lease negotiations, lender requirements, construction planning, and the complexity of keeping AFS safely operational throughout the remodel, there have been far more moving pieces than I initially anticipated.
What I can tell you is that the remodel plan outlined above is still moving forward. We continue to work closely with our architect, construction team, landlord, and lender to finalize the remaining pieces necessary to begin construction and deliver the facility improvements we believe will meaningfully enhance your experience at AFS.
Rather than provide another specific date that may ultimately change, I believe it is more responsible to wait until we have all approvals in place and a definitive construction schedule before communicating a timeline. I know that uncertainty can be frustrating, but I would rather underpromise than create another expectation that I cannot confidently meet.
Please know that we are moving this project forward with as much urgency as possible. As soon as we have a confirmed timeline, I will share it with all of you.
In the meantime, if you have questions, concerns, or simply want to discuss the project, please feel free to contact me directly.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust. We are excited about what this remodel will mean for the future of AFS, and we appreciate your support as we work through the final steps to make it happen.
With Gratitude,
Mike
