(null)-8Katie Griffin- Fitness Practitioner

Hometown: Kentwood/Caledonia MI (smaller Cities outside of the GR area!)

I recently got married to my best friend (cliche but true!), & we have the cutest little kitten together named Arthur! I went to school for Recreational Therapy at CMU, and have been working at UMHS in Inpatient Rehab as a Recreational Therapist since 2013. I have a passion for helping people in any way possible! I love to be around people, and learning…weird, but I love to learn new things, and challenge myself! I LOVE weightlifting, and really developed my passion for it over the last couple years!

Favorite Movie:

Pearl Harbor…such a classic (it has it all, some true History, action, romance, a little humor in there), but if I’m really being honest with myself, I’m a HUGE fan of the Transformer and Bourne series….all over the map I know!

Favorite Sports Team:

Pittsburgh Steeler’s

Favorite Cheat Meal:

PIZZA…hungry howies..jets…I love it all, and with as much parmesan cheese as possible!

Biggest Fear:

Drowning or suffocating.

Hidden Talent:

I was on a competitive hip hop dance team in college

Bucket List:

Hike through the Grand Canyon

When I’m not at AFS:

I can be found feeding an abnormal obsession I have with my cat…(he’s just the best) adventuring with my NEW husband, spending some quality time with my ladies & skyping my adorable nephew (and the rest of my fam ha)!

Why I chose to work at AFS:

To sum up the MANY reasons, it’s my passion: helping people achieve their goals, positioning myself in a company that challenges me to achieve MY goals, having a supportive and family-like group of co-workers, and the love and appreciation for the science behind the health and fitness. It’s sometimes hard for me to put into words how excited I am to be working with and for this company. After being a client here for just over a year, I realized how much I enjoy being here in this atmosphere. I looked forward to my scheduled classes every week, and quickly realized the staff here is doing things right. The information I was absorbing from the instructors in class were things I wanted more of. I finally decided to apply my true passion of fitness, science, and nutrition into something I could do everyday, and now, I’m just honored to be a part of it.
