What motivated you to start at AFS?

My initial interaction with AFS was strictly business related. I worked for a women’s fitness brand and wanted to partner with AFS for an event. I came into AFS and chatted with Nate. He asked me about the company I worked for and about my own fitness goals. During that time I was a member at Planet Fitness and also took Yoga classes at a studio by my house and was not interested in joining another facility. Nate didn’t push me at all, in fact he spent that time getting to know me. I mentioned to him my back issues and other ailments I was facing at the time. He was able to relate, as a hockey player, to back issues himself. After that chat we exchanged information and I said I would be in touch. Leaving AFS I thought this could be a good fit for me, but not at this time. Then a few weeks later Nate sent an email, asked how my back was feeling and asked if I wanted to come in and try a free strength training class. I thought sure, and my AFS journey began.

What keeps you coming back to AFS?

The people at AFS are amazing! I met my practitioner Trent and he listened to all of my concerns and created a plan that works for my situation. He is such an old soul with a good heart and he cares. It’s like you are talking to a friend with expertise in health and fitness. In fact everyone at AFS has the same demeanor. I truly feel like I am talking to friends and family when I am there. It’s truly about your journey and they are there to help you along the way. If it wasn’t for Nate’s initial connection and reaching out I may have never been a member of AFS. Thank you Nate and Trent!

What has been the most rewarding part of your experience?

There has been so many things that I am grateful for, but my most rewarding experience is the progress I’ve seen since I started at AFS. My back was really weak and I had other injuries that put my exercise on hold. I truly needed to gain strength and Trent ensured my strength solution class would do just that. Like anything in life you need to put in effort to get results and I have done that. I feel so much stronger! The other day in strength solution class another member said to me that I looked so strong in my free weight bench press and said that she can’t wait to be able to lift that weight. I thought really, me?. When I started at AFS I was weak and I would have never thought I could lift that weight. That was a rewarding moment!!

What’s great about AFS is that they create the program for you and if you put in the effort you will see the results. You need to care about you and share exactly how you are feeling so they can give you the tools that are right for you. Their caring nature is infectious and I enjoy taking classes at AFS.

What advice would you give to others looking to start at AFS?

My advice is to give AFS a try. Be honest with what you are looking to achieve and share that with the team there! Show up even when you are tired, have a million things to do or just don’t feel like it. You get what you put in. And if you can’t make it, because life happens, the team will reach out to you to make sure everything is okay. (Thank you Trent!) I am so grateful to be part of the AFS family. . . hope you give it a chance!
