How did you both meet and how long have you been together?
We both attended Canton High School, but didn’t get to know each other until later. It’s easy to get lost in that crowd of 5,000! Our 1st date was the day after Superbowl XLIX–3 year ago. If you’re a Patriots fan, maybe we’ll be your lucky charm again this year.
Favorite moment together (so far)?
Our favorite moment so far was our engagement! We were 550 feet in the air when Nick dropped down on one knee, riding the High Roller in Las Vegas (the largest observation wheel in the world). Laura was completely surprised, and they will never forget that once-in-lifetime moment!
What would an AFS membership mean to you as a couple?
Although weight has never been a serious issue for either of us, we know we need to make health a priority so we can enjoy all of life’s experiences together. We both have busy schedules, and do like to indulge–Nick is a potato chips and soda guy; Laura loves carbs and ice cream. We know that if we want to reach our goals, we need to get the right motivators, to get into a routine with exercises that are fun and effective, and by making eating healthy a no-brainer.
We’re really excited that an AFS membership will give us more opportunities to spend time together. We know that AFS will create a foundation to becoming a happy, healthy, and energetic couple for the rest of our lives. It will also put us on the path to reaching our goals so we can look and feel great on our wedding day and beyond.

How did you both meet and how long have you been together?
We met through mutual friends about 7 years ago. We became friends, and our relationship evolved from there. We became close at a time when we both needed each other the most, and we fell in love on our first date. We’ve been together for 4 years now.
Favorite moment together (so far)?
Every moment we spend together is unique and meaningful, but I (Courtney) think that our favorite memory is when we moved in to our first apartment together. We were so excited to begin our lives together, and after we got done unpacking, we stayed up all night talking, laughing, appreciating each other’s company, and just being together. There was nothing in particular that made the moment special, it was just being together, and knowing that this was the start of something bigger. The little details like that are what make those moments special to us.
What would an AFS membership mean to you as a couple?
Courtney: Winning this membership would mean another chance at a healthier life. We have watched our loved ones struggle with weight-related illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. Sadly, my fiancé lost both of his parents last year to heart disease. We feel that we owe it to ourselves and our families to lose weight, and get on the right track with our health. We want to have many happy and healthy years together, and we can’t think of a better way to start than to begin a fitness journey together.
My fiancé is the most loving, caring, and compassionate person I know, and he dedicated all of his time to helping his sick parents in their time of need. I feel that he deserves the chance to be happy and healthy. He would do anything for anyone, and I would love to give him the gift of fitness for our wedding. We both want to look and feel good on our wedding day, and be an example to our family members that losing weight is doable. We don’t know where to start, and would love some help on our journey to a healthier lifestyle. It would mean the world to us to win this contest. Thank you for taking time to read our story 🙂

How did you both meet and how long have you been together?
We met almost exactly nine years ago this month in the second semester of our senior year of High School. We both noticed each other in class but sat in opposite parts of the room until I eventually worked up the guts to sit next to her and start a conversation. Later on, we had an inside joke that she was “the girl to my left” as I sat next to her on her right and never changed it up… there was some odd charm in it for us that is hard to explain.
She played tennis, I (Chris) ran track, and both sports practiced at the same time of year and we were often distracted getting to practice or leaving after practice–often standing for an hour or more just talking as friends… working closer and closer to both being courageous enough to admit to the other we wanted to date. It helped that we “just so happened” to end up doing class projects together. About four months after meeting we finally started dating–May 2nd, 2008–we both wanted to be dating in time to go to senior prom together!
Favorite moment together (so far)?
Chris: We might say different things, but I think one moment we could agree on so far as being our favorite is getting engaged this past year. Throughout the Summer of 2016, I was researching and planning and purchasing her ring. Towards the end of her graduate school, I decided to plan a mini-vacation during Labor Day Weekend in Washington DC together. Towards the end of our mini-vacation, I decided on disguising the proposal as “going to check out the gardens” by a beautiful Gothic-styled cathedral called the Washington National Cathedral. So we bought some picnic food to eat in those gardens gardens and had a photographer wait there for the right moment.
The whole time, our photographer had joined another picnic group and pretended to be with them so he could take pictures of us. Near the end of the meal, I decided to just go for it, so I awkwardly said, “Can you stand up?” to which she replied, “What?” So I of course repeated myself. At this point, she started to realize what was happening and began to tear up. From there, I got down on one knee after telling her my love for her, and she said, “Yes!” It was an incredible moment that’s hard to describe, as it truly was a whole story of events that resulted in that one tiny moment. It was amazing.
What would an AFS membership mean to you as a couple?
And AFS membership would mean we could truly dedicate ourselves to a healthy lifestyle we both desire to have–the motivation and direction your team could give would drive us to learn and commit to the required amount of discipline to incorporate functional exercise and a healthy diet into our lives. Everyone needs something to get going. We both lean towards being healthy, but both also lack direction in how to stay committed to that lifestyle. We hope and think we could find that with AFS. It seems like an awesome team to be a part of just based on your guys’ social media presence!
