1.)  How did you hear about AFS?

I have multiple friends and co-workers who have been coming to AFS for a while. They always made it sound so fun, so I’ve always had an interest in joining!

2.)  What/Who inspired you to take the first step toward getting in shape?

I wanted to get back into the shape that I was a year and a half ago. My body just wasn’t feeling great with some extra weight I had gained. I was inspired by my friend who made some fitness changes, and she encouraged me to switch up my routine and join AFS.

3.)  What initially intrigued you about our program/why did you sign up?

I have never been one to walk into a gym and just jump on a treadmill or throw some weight around. It’s boring and I wouldn’t really know what to do. The group fitness classes are great because of the structure, and it’s fun doing it with other people encouraging each other! I also travel a lot with Michigan Softball and having Kemper check in on me has made a huge difference this year! He even gives me supplemental workouts to do in my hotels!

4.)  How did you achieve the success you’ve seen thus far?

I have learned to control the controllable- you can’t control your personal relationships, how busy you are at work, or the bad weather. You can control your choices, effort, and attitude. I really just committed to the plan that me and Kemper discussed concerning my food logs, calories, and exercise.

5.) What changes have you noticed in your life since starting with AFS?

When I bought size 6 shorts when traveling to Arizona last March, there was a pretty big boost to the ego!! My confidence overall has increased but I just FEEL really great. I’m leaner and fitter than I have ever been, and am really proud of myself- which is the best part.

6.) What advice you can offer others looking to make changes like you’ve made?

It just has to be a desire to make change. Whether it is big or small, it has to be a choice to make a lifestyle change. My advice would be to give yourself a chance! Make the choice to eat well, log your food, and get the workouts in. When you have a bad day or two just accept it for what it is and get back at it!

Congrats Erin! We’d love some tickets to a Michigan Softball game 😉 GO BLUE!
