1.)  How did you hear about AFS?

I heard about AFS from my daughter’s friend, Chelsea Bishop.  She came to AFS for sports fitness.

 2.)  What/Who inspired you to take the first step toward getting in shape?

I had put on some weight and wasn’t happy with what I saw in the mirror and my clothes were getting a little tight.  

 3.)  What initially intrigued you about our program/why did you sign up?

What I was trying to do on my own wasn’t working so I wanted someone to help guide me and tell me what I needed to do in order to get back into shape.  The structure of the programs at AFS are great and you are always motivated to work hard.  The instructors are very friendly, approachable and encouraging during the workout.  Every workout is different so you don’t get bored doing the same thing.  I always leave feeling I’ve worked hard. 

4.)  How did you achieve the success you’ve seen thus far?

My achievement thus far is based on hard work, dedication, and encouragement from my practitioner.  I just followed what my practitioner “prescribed” for me to do as far as my calorie intake, monitoring my diet, and just started working out a lot.  I was doing WLS 3 days a week and asked my practitioner to give me supplemental workouts to do at home because I wanted to work out 6 days a week.  So besides coming to AFS, my at home workouts are 3 days a week of treadmill intervals.  I exceeded my goal of weight loss, and eventually hit my plateau.  I wanted to increase muscle definition so I switched over to group strength training.  I’m building muscle, looking toned, and couldn’t be happier.  I like the fact that my workouts are written specifically for me.   I am in better shape and look better now than I did when I got married 25 years ago.  It was actually not that difficult to do.  

5.) What changes have you noticed in your life since starting with AFS?

The changes that I have noticed are that I control my portion size, and basically eat a lot healthier.  I feel great, have more energy, and I haven’t been sick in a year now.  Not even a little cold.  I contribute that to the healthy eating and the exercise.

6.)  Advice you can offer others looking to make changes like you’ve made?

My advice is that you have nothing to lose but the weight.  If you stick to it and follow the advice of your practitioner than you can be successful as well.  It really is a life style change because you monitor everything that you eat, and are eating healthier when you are on calorie limitations.  Healthy food has a lot fewer calories than junk food.  You don’t have to give up pizza or chocolate, lord knows I didn’t, but you have to budget that into your diet.  Planning your meals ahead of time works great.  Again, the key to success is following the advice of your practitioner and DEDICATION. I love coming to AFS and couldn’t be happier with my results!
