More to come!

1.)  How did you hear about AFS?

I live less than half a mile from the facility so I saw the signs going up and the renovation work being done.  Then some of the folks from AFS came to my workplace and gave a presentation, which I actually didn’t get to attend.  That peaked my interest so took a tour to see what it was all about.

2.)  What/Who inspired you to take the first step toward getting in shape?

I’m creeping up on 35 and have had this anxious feeling that it was time to “go” in terms of getting back into shape.  I was not happy with the way I looked or felt, and it was probably negatively impacting more aspects of my life than I realized.  My second and equal reason is my wife and I just had our first child, Airalyn.  I want to make sure I’m in good condition to be active with her and present in her lifer for as long as possible.

3.)  What initially intrigued you about our program/why did you sign up?

I was sold by the overall methodology with its various components: class structure, practitioner relationship, CMS Software, emphasis on eating through Fatsecret, etc.  All of those things combined really caused me to want to give it a shot.  I’ve also had other gym memberships and paid for personal training in the past.  I see the clear value in the package being offered.  Individual time with personal trainers at my other gym ranged from $80 – $110, and that didn’t include any ancillary benefits.

4.)  How did you achieve the success you’ve seen thus far?

Sticking to all facets of the program and adhering to my practitioner’s recommendations has been key. You can’t just do one part of the program.

For me, my nutrition has been the most important one item though.  I’m certainly monitoring my calories through Fatsecret, but I’ve also tried to keep an eye on the content of what I’m eating.  I believe my body is an engine.  If I put substandard fuel into it I can’t expect it to perform well. I’ve tried working out in the past while not minding what I eat, and that is just not sustainable in the long-term.  You end up having to battle your own body and that simply doesn’t work…

5.) What changes have you noticed in your life since starting with AFS?

My energy levels have been higher and I feel much more clear mentally. Very happy with my body composition changes so far as well and excited to keep making progress!

6.)  Advice you can offer others looking to make changes like you’ve made?

CONSISTENCY.  STAY CONSISTENT. You don’t have to crush every work out going 110%.  Show-up and give it your best.  You don’t have to eat perfectly clean every day.  BE CONSISTENT.  Overall keep eating well and don’t beat yourself up if you have a bad day. CONSISTENCY is what will win in the long term, not the one-time amazing workout or one day of eating totally perfect. CONSISTENCY!

Stay tuned for more updates on Mike’s progress!

Congrats Mike! Keep up the hard work!
