What did you like most about the class?

I liked the fact that this mobility class gave me a complete full body stretch in only 30 mins. Katie gave modifications accordingly for those that were less flexible. She provided verbal and nonverbal cues as she walked around checking everyones form. I really liked the fact that equipment was available (yoga blocks and straps) to aid in the stretching.

Do you see yourself incorporating this into your fitness program?

Yes, this is definitely something I will incorporate into my fitness program. As I age (gasp) I find my muscles tighten faster and the range of motion in my joints are slightly more minimized.

What do you think the positive benefits of incorporating this class in your program?

I resistance train four time a week and teach spin class twice a week. My muscles would be really tight if I didn’t stretch. Stretching helps improve flexibility, and consequently, range of joint motion. It also decreases the risk of injuries by helping my joints move through their full range of motion. Stretching, when done properly helps relax tense muscles which result from stress. Being relaxed brings a sense of well-being and relief from tension. That’s exactly what this class did for me after a difficult workout!

What surprised you the most about the class?

What surprised ME the most was that I wasn’t bored. Katie kept us moving and she continually described what our bodies should be doing (form wise) going into the stretches and during the stretches.  I was so busy concentrating on good form, I lost track of time!

What did you like most about the class?

I’ll be honest, I’m not really into yoga. Lots of time just laying on mat, reflecting or chanting…just not for me. That wasn’t this class. It was laid back and fun, but Katie gave you the science and purpose for all the stretches. She helps you focus on what you should be feeling in order to get the most benefit from each pose. The format wasn’t focused on being the most “bendy,” but making each stretch work for you and your individual flexibility/tight spots.

Do you see yourself incorporating this into your fitness program?

Definitely. Summer is a bit tricky with kids out of school, but hopefully I can add a session when they are back in class in September (and as fall marathon training starts to peak).

What do you think the positive benefits of incorporating this class in your program?

I’m a distance runner, so I spend a lot of time using the same muscle groups for miles and miles. I can balance things out with Group Strength to make sure I have total body fitness, but that doesn’t address tightness caused by both activities. If left to stretch on their own, most people are notoriously bad at making that time investment and rush (or skip) the process, even though it’s incredibly important for injury prevention. Commitment to a positive group setting can help make stretching/mobility a priority and more effective.

What surprised you the most about the class?

What surprised me most about the class was how much I enjoyed it and how quickly the time flew by. I was in the hour-long class…and for someone who hates stretching (and is often tight from all the miles and strength work) saying I enjoyed 60 minutes of stretching is pretty miraculous!

What did you like most about the class?

I liked how refreshed I felt after the class.

Do you see yourself incorporating this into your fitness program?

I would add this to my weekly routine. It wouldn’t be an everyday thing, but if time allowed I would do it at least once a week after I workout.

What do you think the positive benefits of incorporating this class in your program?

I always leave class early to go back to work, so I skip stretching. This class would obviously help my body considering I don’t stretch enough!

What surprised you the most about the class?

How great I felt, even after my first class! Katie was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I needed!
