In 2008, at 45 years old, Lisa walked through the doors of Applied Fitness Solutions with a simple but powerful declaration: “It’s finally my time.”
After raising four sons, she was ready to invest in herself. Seventeen years later, that single decision has shaped every part of her life in ways she never could have imagined.
A Grandmother Who Doesn’t Slow Down
Today, at 62, Lisa is anything but “slowing down.” She’s up at 7:30 AM, four days a week, committed to her fitness routine. She’s also chasing toddler triplets, caring for her extended family, and staying deeply involved with her 13 grandchildren.
For Lisa, exercise isn’t about vanity or even just energy, but more so about being fully present for the people she loves.
Strength That Saved Her Life
Lisa’s commitment to fitness became her lifeline during a terrifying health crisis in 2020. What began as severe abdominal pain escalated into emergency surgery for a twisted colon. Complications followed: sepsis, multiple surgeries, a medically induced coma, and 39 days in intensive care.
“My doctor said everything that could have gone wrong went wrong,” Lisa remembers.
Yet she survived…and thrived. Lisa credits her fitness routine for giving her body the strength it needed to fight back when everything else was shutting down.
Redefining Self-Care for Women
Lisa grew up in a generation where women were told that putting themselves first was selfish. “When I was raising kids, you didn’t go to the gym,” she says. “You did not take care of yourself first.”
Her perspective has shifted. Now she knows: if she doesn’t take care of herself, she can’t give her family what they need.
It’s a lesson she’s passionate about passing on — especially to other women who might feel guilty about prioritizing their health.

Lisa’s Advice for Starting
Lisa doesn’t sugarcoat the process. Starting something new can feel uncomfortable — “like taking your kid to preschool,” she laughs. But she’s quick to point out that the alternative to taking care of yourself “isn’t great.”
“You’re always going to have excuses,” she says. “But this is one of the best investments I’ve ever made.”
