The winter and spring session of our off-ice training provided by Applied Fitness Solutions has openings!! If you are already registered for training but would like to have your athlete retest, continue reading!

The Format

As a compliment to on-ice training, the team at Applied Fitness Solutions have comprised a supervised program to assist your athletes with injury prevention, stability, strength, and power training. Incorporating these practices from a young age helps ensure each skater builds a strong base as they develop. For older athletes, such training aids in developing the explosiveness and power required for difficult jumps and landings. If your athlete has struggled with injuries, or if they’re facing a plateau with performance, you should talk with their coach or AFS about how this type of training fits in.

Step 1: Testing

Athletes that participate in the optional AFS testing session before starting training sessions will have programs customized based on the outcome of their testing. Testing allows us to take a closer look at your athlete’s movement and performance to identify their unique strengths, weaknesses, and imbalances to fully customize their training program to them.

Testing dates

All testing is now done 1v1 with the athlete and a certified strength coach! Coaches are available Monday-Thursday 330-815pm. Once you pay for testing we will email you to schedule!

Step 2: Training

All New Training App!

Introducing: VOLT! An app-based training tool that allows our coaches to easily customize and track athlete weights and progression. The app also provides video tutorials for every athlete’s home-based programming. Even if your athlete only does 1 session a week at the Onyx, they will still receive one at home prescription on the volt app! (Whether that’s 1 Onyx workout paired with 1 at home workout, 2 onyx workouts, etc.)

*All non-ONYX workouts will be designed for the equipment your athlete has access to, and that they can utilize safely.

*Athletes that do not test will be prescribed our general figure skating athlete programs
