What Motivated you to start at AFS?
Cynthia = C- I wanted to lose weight, get back in shape, and start running again. I also wanted to support my husband in helping him get his health back without prescription medication.
Seth = S- I turned 40, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and wanted to lose 20 pounds. I was no longer able to simply lose weight by doing yard work for the summer. I needed some accountability and structure in my workouts.
What keeps you coming back to AFS?
C- I love the sense of community within the classes. You get to know many people and share in the journey; the triumphs and the difficulties. The trainers are always on it, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every class. It’s a place where everyone knows your name 😉 very personable and encouraging.
S- It works! The staff couldn’t be any better. Love the workouts, it has structure but yet the exercises change daily. Workouts also have a great balance of cardio and strength. I feel great after a workout, that feeling keeps me coming back.
What has been your biggest change since starting AFS?
C- Strength – of body and mind. Knowing what I’ve overcome and looking forward to new challenges.
S- My biggest change has been in the health of my body. My cholesterol has gone down 90 points, blood pressure is now normal and lost 40 pounds! I’m getting back to my fitness level from 20 years ago. That makes me pretty excited!
What was the most rewarding part of your experience?
C- Feeling good about myself. Not just the outward appearance but mentally. Fitness is a great stress reliever! Also, being able to run again injury-free.
S- The most rewarding part of my experience is being able to do this with my wife. We got chubby together, now we are getting healthy together. It’s awesome to see your partner get stronger physically and mentally. We push each other when one of us may not feel like putting in 100%. Plus it makes for a fun date night 🙂
What advice would you give others looking to start at AFS?
C- Stick with it and make the commitment to achieve better health. Start there and the rest will follow. We have a new relationship with food and make better choices to ensure the rewards of our hard work. And we can have guilt-free indulgences in moderation, of course. Now, when we miss a few days at AFS we feel anxious to get the next class in – it’s a part of our everyday routine now.
S- Once you start, set a routine and don’t stop. If it’s twice a week or five times a week, keep your schedule. If you miss a workout don’t miss the next one. It’s hard work, but being unhealthy is harder!! We tend not to miss a meal, so don’t miss a workout. Also, I truly believe the AFS staff is committed to see you reach your goals. They are invested in every single client, there is no lack of personal attention. They are there for you, no matter your circumstance. Great people!!!
