Katelyn is one of our Fitness Practitioners at AFS Plymouth, so she’s responsible for managing clients behind-the-scenes–holding them accountable to their nutritional goals, answering questions, helping clients assess their progress and modify their plans accordingly, and essentially being there to coach clients and help them stay on track! She went to Grand Valley to study Clinical Exercise Science because she initially planned on going into physical therapy because she really enjoyed the health field and has had to go through physical therapy plenty of times herself, so she wanted to help people in the same way PT helped her. She found out throughout the program though that she was more attracted to the physical exercise portion of therapy over the rehabilitation part.
Why did you choose AFS?
One of my former clinicians at a physical therapy office that I worked at pushed me in the direction of AFS and, once I talked with Devin and Mike and they described what AFS was all about, it made me realize that my beliefs were in line with the beliefs of this company. Naturally, it turned out to be a perfect fit.
What you can be found doing when you’re not at AFS (hobbies, sports, etc)?
When I’m not at AFS, I’m probably playing hockey most days of the week. I also like to read and go hiking at the outdoors, even in the wintertime. I typically find State Parks, but I’ll hike anywhere. I also really enjoy baking–I’d probably say that making cupcakes are my favorite.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
The top of my bucket list is to visit New Zealand. I’m a huge Lord of the Rings fan and that’s where it’s filmed. There’s tourist attractions there!
