Abby is a big part of our administrative team and one of our childcare specialists. You can find her at the front desk helping clients sign in, navigate their memberships, and dealing with account issues; but she’s also responsible for keeping the kids entertained while the adults workout! She currently attends Wayne State University as a junior, where she’s double-majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. Eventually, Abby wants to move to Texas!

Outside of work, Abby loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and do anything outside when it’s warm–lay out, go for walks/runs with her dog, Mabel (Red Fox Lab). I go to Wayne State to double-major in Criminal Justice and Psychology–I’ve always been interested in people’s minds and why they do stuff, and I think that I can help people if I learn more about how they work and why they do what they do. She’s a junior that plans on going to grad school and eventually move to Texas.

What can you be found doing outside of AFS?

While I’m not at work, you’ll find me either at school, traveling somewhere different, hanging out with my family and friends, or doing pretty much anything outside when it’s nice out–you know, lay out and go for runs/walks with my dog, Mabel (pictured left as a puppy).

Why did you choose AFS?

Honestly, one of my mom’s friends told me about this place and I didn’t even know at first that I’d be working at the front desk–just a childcare attendant. Eventually though, I realized that I liked helping and interacting with people at the front desk. I stay here because I love seeing people make progress and chatting with people about just about anything!

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

I don’t really do “diets,” per say, but I guess my favorite food would have to be honey BBQ chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings with at least 6 cups of ranch.

What’s at the top of your bucket list?

I’m going to achieve it this summer, but I’m going with my family to Africa and a bunch of countries in Europe such as Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Croatia!

What’s your favorite place in the world to visit and why?

I guess I’d have to say Florida just because I’ve been going there every year around Christmas since I was a kid; plus it’s warm and, you know, it’s definitely a good getaway.
